Ernst Bromais, a thrill-seeker swimmer from Switzerland, plans to swim across ? Lake Baikal.


He is going to swim 800 kilometers along the east coast. This is his measure to draw attention to the global water pollution issue.

According to TASS, the start of the swim is scheduled for July 8 and will last about 2 months. Bromais is going to ? swim alone across the lake, periodically resting on the shore. At the same time, he will be followed by a company of assistants. They will move on land.

The Swiss athlete became famous for his extreme swims in order to draw attention to the problem of water bodies pollution around the globe. In December of last year, four people from Irkutsk organized an extreme swim, starting with Rosha “Zvezdochka” and ending with the Upper Angara embankment. This didn’t exactly go as planned. Two participants experienced a cold water shock, and they were provided with medical assistance.
